13th Session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues, 12-23 May 2014

The 13th Session of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues will take place from 12 to 23 May 2014 at UN Headquarters in New York. The special theme is "Principles of good governance consistent with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples: articles 3 to 6 and 46".

In keeping with the resolution 2000/22, indigenous peoples’ organizations (IPOs) and Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) in consultative status with ECOSOC may be accredited to attend sessions of the Permanent Forum as observers. Based on past practice at the Working Group on Indigenous Populations, academic institutions may also be permitted to attend. The Permanent Forum has also agreed that indigenous parliamentarians and national human rights institutions may be invited to attend.

The Secretariat of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (SPFII) works together with the Civil Society and Outreach Unit of the Division of Social Policy and Development in the pre-accreditation process.
