UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

On September 13, 2007, the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples was adopted by the General Assembly. This decision comes as a result of more than twenty years of work by indigenous peoples and the United Nations system.

Indigenous Peoples at the United Nations

The United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) is an advisory body to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), with a mandate to discuss indigenous issues related to economic and social development, culture, the environment, education, health and human rights.

World Conference on Indigenous Peoples

Registration for the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples

Registration is open only to those who have pre-registered online and have received their confirmation letters.

Registration will take place at the Salvation Army at 221 East 52nd Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues).

Registration will be open on the following times:
Sunday 21 September: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Monday 22 September: 7:00 AM – 10:30 AM and 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM
Tuesday 23 September: 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Participants must bring valid photo ID and a printed copy of their confirmation letter. Once participants have registered, they will receive their passes that allow them to enter the United Nations.

Entrance for all guests to the United Nations who have completed their registration and have their passes, will be through the 46th street entrance at 2nd Avenue.
