Informal Network on Disability Statistics for Inclusive Development

UNDESA-DSPD organized a discussion group on "Informal Network on Disability Statistics for Inclusive Development" on 4 March 2014. The Network brought together all stakeholders working to strengthen the quality and availability of internationally comparable disability data and statistics. It was an initiative towards the implementation of the outcome document of the General Assembly High-Level Meeting on Disability and Development (HLMDD), convened in September 2013. In this outcome document, Member States articulated the clear need for accurate disability data collection, analysis and monitoring for development policy planning, implementation and evaluation.

The discussion also included a presentation on the current status of disability data and next steps.
