Closure of the 52nd Session of the Commission for Social Development

Today is the closure of the 52nd Session of the Commission for Social Development. The Commission is expected to adopt the following resolutions:

1. Adoption of the agenda and other organizational matters [item 2], E/CN.5/2014/L.4
 
2. Follow-up to the World Summit for Social Development and the twenty-fourth special, session of the General Assembly [item 3], E/CN.5/2014/L.9
 
(a) Priority theme: promoting empowerment of people in achieving poverty eradication, social integration and full employment and decent work for all, E/CN.5/2014/L.8
 
(b) Review of relevant United Nations plans and programmes of action pertaining to the situation of social groups:
  • Further implementation of the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing, E/CN.5/2014/L.3
  • Observance of the twentieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family and Beyond, E/CN.5/2014/L.5
  • Promoting the rights of persons with disabilities and mainstreaming disability in the post-2015 development agenda, E/CN.5/2014/L.7

(c) Visual health as a tool for the achievement of the empowerment of people E/CN.5/2014/L.6

3. Provisional agenda for the fifty-third session of the Commission, E/CN.5/2014/L.2 [item 5]
 
4. Adoption of the report of the Commission on its fifty-second session, E/CN.5/2014/L.1 [item 6]
